Prepare Your Environment- and Optimize Your Results!

You've scheduled the time to focus on a project. In the 5-15 minutes before you begin, use these preparation tips below to make it the most productive hour of your day.
  1. Clear the clutter from the immediate workspace.
  2. Don't waste precious work time searching for the materials you'll need. Take this time to find them and have them at hand: pen/pencil, paper, calculator; boot up your computer, open that Google Doc, find the reference website, etc.
  3. Have your drink near your workspace - water, tea, coffee, energy drink - so you don't have to run to the kitchen every 20 minutes. If the coffee or tea isn't brewed or the smoothie isn't blended, get it started!
  4. Just going to say it: go pee. You may be able to hold it the whole hour; or you may not. It's not a contest, so just go before we start and don't chance it.
  5. Take a deep breath, stretch, and relax until time is called.

Fun, Work, or ... “Social Accountability"?

10/23/2020

“I'm getting together with Chris. and we're going to work on our reviews.”
“I have a Zoom call with Jane to purge our closets.”
“Some friends and I are meeting on the phone in the mornings to walk and catch up.”

Do these sound like fun? Or do they sound like work?
Consider that they could be both. Work and fun can co-exist -  even complement each other - in the world of Social Accountability. Social Accountability is not part of an alternate universe; it’s right here, available for everyone now. In fact, you’ve probably used this productivity hack yourself.

Think of it as a Study Hall for Grown-Ups

Take a look at how Brandon Lee recently changed how he completed his important tasks using social accountability, exclusively.

“Simple answer:
Social Accountability

Expanded simple answer:
Everything that my “responsible adult”-self wants to do, I don’t do it on my own, I find a friend to do it with, calendar it, and that’s it.”

(Read Brandon’s article, I'm a master procrastinator, and I finally found THE fix for unprecedented productivity, and learn how to set up your “Study Hall.” )

Once you lose the guilt about “work+fun,” Social Accountability can work!
And if it works for you, use it - or “over-use” it , like Brandon does.
Test your use of Social Accountability at our next Community Power Hour!
